6 years seems extremely young, doesn't it?
I've heard that brown trout can live to reach 5-7 years of age, which would put the age of 6 right on the dot.
The brown trout develops quickly with a very high growth rate, slowing down only after maturity, so size really can build up fast.
However, I've also heard that trout can live up to 20-25 years. I'd assume that this is more oriented towards lake-dwelling trout, however. Depending on the location of habitation and the reproduction levels of the fish, they may grow to extreme sizes such as this record.
Seems like 16 would be a more appropriate estimate, but if 6 is correct, then that fish was very hungry.
Hope that helps.
- Twas on the Fifth day that the fish and fowl were created.
- On the Sixth day He made man in His image and let him have dominion over the fish of the sea, and the fowl of the air.
- On the Seventh day the Lord rested, and I picked up my rod and gun.
