With temperatures plummeting up here in New England it is becoming more and more difficult to get a productive day out on the water. This past week Lucky and myself hit the water a few days and were able to manage a couple of late fall Largemouths, crawling and swimming Jigs. With the vegetation and weed cover dying down in the past weeks the water clarity is pristine and the markings of the fish we caught were crisp from the clarity of the water. Lucky landed the 16″ Largemouth pictured below on a black/ chartreuse jig with a Gary Yamamoto Dual Hula Tailed Grub trailer and I managed three nice bass on a black/ blue Booyah! Jig with a blue YUM Wooley Crawtail trailer. The second day we hit the water we fished through the first snowfall of the year here in our area and received a royal skunking. It’s getting progressively tougher out there but be patient and persistent and slow down your presentations. Pick up some spray-on scent if you don’t have it already and fish baits with rattles; every advantage you give yourself can really pay off this time of year as conditions get tougher.
